    Frequently Asked Questions

What does an In-Home Pet Sitter Do?
When you hire a pet sitter, your pets get to remain in the comfort and safety of their own home. We provide fresh food and water, walk or exercise, and quality play time. We can administer any medications or vitamins your pets may need. We try to match their normal routine and do whatever necessary to keep them happy and stress-free. Your sitter can also bring in your mail and newspaper, water your plants, rotate lighting and blinds, take the garbage out and bring it back in- all for one low per-visit rate!

DO YOU OFFER ADDITIONAL HOUSE SITTING SERVICES?
Yes, On the Spot Sitting offers full service house sitting with or without pets. Our services range from "check in's" to "over night" and "extended stay" packages. We can include personal shopping and housekeeping services as well.

WHAT IS THE MEET AND GREET ALL ABOUT?
We will come by your home to meet with you and your pets. If we all feel like we are a good match, we will fill out the necessary paperwork. Payment for scheduled services is due at this time. This is a good time to obtain a copy of your house key; so you can avoid the fee for our making an extra trip  for it. Once we have your house key and your service contract on file, just a quick call or email is all you need to book service anytime in the future.

HOW SAFE ARE MY HOUSE KEYS?
Your keys are coded and always stored in a locked and secure location in our office, separate from any files or information which could link the key to your address. While in service, they are clipped onto your petsitter's person at all times. In the highly unlikely event that your keys are stolen or lost, it is covered under our business liability insurance policy. You would be notified immediately and a locksmith would re-key your entire home at no cost to you.

HOW MANY TIMES PER DAY SHOULD I HAVE A SITTER COME TO MY HOUSE WHILE I AM GONE?
Every situation is unique. Dogs typically need 2 visits per day and cats usually need only one visit daily or every other day. We will arrange a schedule that best suits the needs of your pets and home.

WHAT IF MY PET BECOMES ILL OR INJURED WHILE I AM AWAY?
We are experienced and trained in animal first aid and CPR. We will knowledgeably assess your pet's condition and, if need be, contact your preferred veterinarian. We also work with a network of local veterinarians and 24 hour emergency facilities. If your pets require medical care, we will contact you as soon as possible at your emergency numbers on file and keep you informed throughout their treatment.

WILL YOU BE CONTACTING ME JUST TO LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING IS GOING SMOOTHLY WHILE I AM AWAY?
As far as we are concerned, "no news is good news". However, your sitter may send you a picture text or email periodically as a courtesy. We will do whatever it takes to give you peace of mind while you are away from home. Please let us know if you would like us to check in, and we will be happy to provide you with that extra level of service. You are also welcome to call your sitter at any time to check on your pets and home.

DO YOU PROVIDE REFERENCES?
Of course. We have many references available, just ask!

HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY YOU?
We collect a deposit equal to 50% of the service fees at the "meet and greet". There is a high demand for our services;  therefore we can not reserve dates and times until a deposit is received.
